Food has always been a big part of my life. Not in the usual way, but in a magnificent way. My dad, Big Bill Foster, wasn’t just a great fisherman–he learned how to take that fresh fish and season it perfectly, so that each meal was a delight. Those of you who have eaten his food know exactly what I’m talking about! (In 2020, he has had lots of fun cooking with Spicewalla seasonings as a taste-tester.)

There are some smells that take us right back to memorable times in our life… like fresh-baked pumpkin pies. Holiday meals with mouth-watering dishes. Seasonal favorites that we remember from our childhood.

I think that’s why I’m so happy to be carrying spices and seasonings like those from Spicewalla in Asheville, NC. Even as I stock the shelves, the smells take me right back to happy times. And just in time for the holidays, we are getting in a big shipment to delight any cook! Nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice and apple pie spice. And of course, mulling spices that make the whole house smell happy!

Spicewalla spices are chef-driven, with an unmatched level of quality. They are made fresh, in small batches, then packed and processed by hand. I’m excited about trying some of the new products, like the apple pie spice used in this recipe shared by Buxton Hall restaurant pastry chef, Ashley Capps, for her Thanksgiving Pie!

Carolina Pork Rub: Your favorite delicious grilling flavor, hot, full-flavored and smokey. Our bbq spice rub is the perfect combination of spices, seasonings, and herbs that can be spread over foods, especially meat and poultry, before grilling, roasting or slow-cooking. Rubs are often used in grilling and smoking because the seasoning penetrates the meat.

Light chili powder, kosher salt, brown sugar, sugar, granulated onion, granulated garlic, ground mustard, celery seed, black pepper, and cayenne.

Cracked Coriander and Pepper Rub: Citrusy and lightly spicy, with the added zip of mustard, black pepper, and garlic, this all-in-one blend is pre-mixed for maximum flavor with minimum effort. The zippy, lemon-like freshness of the crunchy coriander adds a bright top-note to the otherwise earthy, peppered flavors. The combo would go well with light meats like pork or chicken but is equally well-suited to sprinkling over sautéed vegetables.

Black pepper, kosher salt, garlic, coriander, yellow mustard, paprika, rosemary, and thyme.

Cowboy Steak Rub: Spicy, herbaceous, and smoky. We call it a steak rub, but don't be fooled. This wonderful blend will enhance just about any meat that touches the grill.

Coarse Black Pepper, Kosher Salt, Minced Garlic, Crushed Red Pepper, Cumin Seed, Dill Seed

Honey and Herb Rub: This gourmet-style rub is influenced by cedar plank salmon flavors and is perfect for salmon. An efficient and perfect blend of spices for all things seafood. Use this blend on seafood, chicken, pork, rice, or any recipe that needs a little extra flavor. Other quick applications include sprinkling this blend on vegetables for some extra flair.

Brown Sugar, Minced Garlic, Kosher Salt, Smoked Paprika, Black Pepper, Honey Powder, Granulated Onion, Thyme, Basil, Citric Acid, & Fennel Seed

Mustard and Taragon Seasoning: A simpler take on a French classic, bittersweet tarragon melds with the pungent flavors of yellow mustard, garlic, & white pepper, making an elegant blend that can be enjoyed on everything from cauliflower steaks to beef tenderloin.

Garlic, Yellow Mustard, Salt, Coriander, Tarragon, Parsley, Dill Seed, and White Pepper

Modena Balsamic Rub: Tangy, bright, and rich. A major hit in the Spicewalla line up. You'll find yourself eating it straight out of the tin, but resist eating it all! Leave some for the grilled chicken, dressings, and marinades.
