Araucania's worsted weight hand-painted fine wool and acrylic blend yarn is available in several bright, fun mixes of colors. "Sayi" comes from the Mapuche word meaning “fruit”. Crochet and knit swatch samples shown are in color 1008 - Amazonas.

** EVERY PURCHASE of Sayi Yarn comes with a FREE copy of the Mulbery Chullo pattern. This is a quick knit item, that will be great to have on hand for gifts - or for yourself. Colors are not quite as bright as shown on some monitors, but are definitely rich and saturated.

From the ocean to the sound, and the night sky where you can still see the Milky Way, the Outer Banks and the Cape Hatteras National Seashore offer inspirational views, animals in their natural habitat, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets over the ocean, and enough wonder and beauty to inspire us every single day.

Jennifer Johnson, Blue Pelican’s owner and Hatteras Village native, creates most of the work in the shop. We also feature work from other local artists/artisans and craftspeople. When we want to share something that we can’t get locally, we look first for North Carolina crafters and then expand our search to American artisans making unique and limited production items.

And…the “and Yarn” part of our name?  We have two rooms of the 1950’s house that is home to our local small business, full to the gills with yarn and more.  We also have handmade buttons you can’t find anywhere else, kits for crochet, knitting and fiber arts.  You should make the trip to see us if you’re in the area, if only to see just how cleverly we have filled up the shop.  If you want to learn knitting, weaving, crochet, macrame or any other kind of fiber art, we have a teacher who would love to talk more with you.
