BLUE PELICAN

Gallery – Gifts – Yarn

Thanks for visiting our local small business. We’re located in the heart of Hatteras Village on the island of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. We hope you enjoy our great selection of local Outer Banks, regional, and American made arts, crafts and gifts. Our yarn shop features designer fibers, tools and notions.  Many of our yarn-themed gifts and buttons are made locally, too!

Our Retail Shop is currently open Monday through Saturday 10am-5pm.  To browse the shop outside of business hours, email blue_pelican@mac.com or send us a message via facebook or instagram.

It is pure potential. Every ball or skein of yarn holds something inside it, and the great mystery of what that might be can be almost spiritual.

Be present

Gift-giving, even to yourself, is about paying enough attention to a person to learn their wants, needs and desires.  It’s about being present.

Happy Customers

Cape Hatteras, Outer Banks, North Carolina

From the ocean to the sound, and the night sky where you can still see the Milky Way, all of us who live in and visit the Outer Banks and the Cape Hatteras National Seashore are surrounded by inspirational views, animals in their natural habitat, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets over the ocean, and enough wonder and beauty to inspire us every single day.

Most of the work in the shop is created by Blue Pelican’s owner and Hatteras Village native, Jennifer Johnson. Another large part is created by local artists/artisans and craftspeople. When we want to share something that we can’t get locally, we look first for North Carolina crafters and then expand our search for unique handmade items, to American artisans.

And…the “and Yarn” part of our name?  We have two rooms of the 1950’s house, that is home to our local small business, full to the gills with yarn and more.  We have handmade buttons you can’t find anywhere else, kits for crochet, knitting and fiber arts.  You should make the trip to see us if you’re in the area, if only to see just how cleverly we have filled up the shop.  If you want to learn knitting, weaving, crochet, macrame or any other kind of fiber art, we have a teacher who would love to talk more with you.
